Otto Thiel’s youngest son, Ronald, took a position with a firm in Cape Town after he qualified at the Diocesan College in Rondebosch. He married Maureen Eleanore Laura Mc Cormack and they had one son and two daughters. After Ron and Maureen were divorced he and his son Paul moved to Northern Rhodesia in about 1940 while the daughters stayed in Cape Town. In Northern Rhodesia Ron was involved in diamond drilling and prospecting and Paul went to stay with Ron’s brother Arthur in Durban. Ron later joined the South African Railways in Durban where he passed away in November 1978.
